Your data stays with you.

Daily Driver stores your data on your device and in your private iCloud by default. There's no account system and no analytics. The one exception is an optional, off-by-default Cloud AI planning feature, which from version 2.0 includes the voice that reads your day and the Let's chat conversation — and when you turn it on, this page tells you exactly what leaves your phone.

What we collect

Nothing, by default. Daily Driver has no account system and no analytics, and your tasks, notes, and journal never reach a server of ours unless you explicitly turn on Cloud AI planning (described below).

Where your data lives

• On your device. Tasks, notes, projects, focus sessions and journal entries are stored locally first.
• In your private iCloud container. If you're signed into iCloud, the same data syncs to your iPhone and iPad through Apple's CloudKit. It sits inside your personal iCloud account — not ours.

Optional Cloud AI planning

Daily Driver can plan your day and week, redo the plan when you tell it what changed, draft prep points for a meeting, suggest projects from your calendar, and write a weekly review and reminders, using Claude, an AI model running on Amazon Bedrock. This feature is off by default and only works if you switch on Cloud AI in Settings. Each feature sends only what it needs:

• Day and week plans, and changes to them: your open task titles, due dates, estimates and project names; calendar event titles and times; your working hours and the routines and preferences you've told the app; summaries of how you've adjusted past plans and how much you tend to finish (numbers, not content); and, for a change, the instruction you typed or said.
• Meeting prep points: the meeting's title and tags, and the titles of related notes and tasks. Note contents are never sent.
• Project suggestions: your calendar event titles.
• Weekly review and reminders: how many tasks you finished, the mood and accomplishment words from your journal, project names, and the titles of tasks that have gone quiet.
• If you turn on Include Reminders, the titles of your Apple Reminders join the plan.

Plans are not linked to an account. Each request is checked against a key unique to your copy of the app, to confirm it's genuine. Requests aren't stored; a finished plan is held under a random code until your device collects it (usually within a minute, or until you next open the app for a plan drafted overnight, at most four days), then deleted. Amazon Bedrock doesn't train models on your requests. Note contents, journal entries and project descriptions are never sent. Turn the toggle off and the app makes no AI network requests at all, and the voice features below are off too.

Voice: Listen and Let's chat

From version 2.0, Daily Driver can read your day aloud and talk it through with you. Both are part of Cloud AI (they need the Daily Driver AI subscription or the free fortnight, and the Cloud AI switch), and both use ElevenLabs for the voice. Nothing here runs unless you tap Listen or open Let's chat; neither listens in the background.

• Listen. The brief's words (meeting and task names, times) go through our server to ElevenLabs, which returns the audio. Our server doesn't keep the words or the audio. The audio is cached on your phone for a few days so the same brief isn't fetched twice.
• Let's chat. While the Let's chat sheet is open, your microphone audio streams to ElevenLabs, which turns it into text and generates the spoken reply with an AI model (Claude). So the agent knows your day, the app sends it the same kind of context as a plan request: the brief, today's timeline, the titles of open tasks for today and the days ahead, how many someday tasks you have, which meetings still need prep, and your working hours. Any change the agent makes to your tasks happens in the app, with Undo in the transcript. Our server only hands the app a one-off key to start the conversation; the conversation itself never passes through it, and we never see the audio or the transcript. ElevenLabs keeps the conversation transcript for 30 days and doesn't store the audio; it doesn't train on your conversations.
• Voice-led setup. If you choose to set up by voice on first run, the same Let's chat conversation captures what's on your plate and your working hours. "Type instead" does the same with nothing sent to ElevenLabs.
• Limits. Each install has a daily allowance of Listen briefs and Let's chat conversations and minutes. The count is kept against the same per-copy key as plan requests, with no account and no identifier that links it to you.

If Let's chat can't reach ElevenLabs, the app falls back to a simpler chat that recognises your speech on your device (where the device supports it, otherwise through Apple's speech service) and shows its replies as text.

Subscriptions & payments

Cloud AI planning, Listen and Let's chat are part of the optional Daily Driver AI subscription, billed through Apple. All payment processing is handled by the App Store under Apple's Privacy Policy — we never see your payment details, and the app only learns whether the subscription is active. There's still no account: your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, not to anything we hold.

Calendar access

If you grant calendar permission, Daily Driver reads your events on-device so it can show them alongside today's tasks. Calendar data stays on your phone unless you use Cloud AI planning, in which case event titles are included in the request as described above.

Microphone & speech recognition

The microphone is used only when you choose to speak: a voice note, a brain dump, telling the planner what changed, saying what came out of a meeting, or Let's chat. Voice notes and dictation are transcribed with Apple's Speech framework, on your device where it supports it and otherwise through Apple's speech service under Apple's Privacy Policy. Recordings and transcriptions are stored locally and in your private iCloud container, and are never uploaded to us. Let's chat is the one place your voice leaves the phone, to ElevenLabs, as described above. Siri phrases ("What's next in Daily Driver?", "Add a task") are handled by Siri on Apple's side; the app only receives the request.

Analytics & tracking

No third-party analytics or tracking: no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no advertising SDKs, no device identifiers. From version 1.11 the app sends our own server one small anonymous usage ping a day, so we can tell whether people keep using the app and whether the free fortnight works. It contains only coarse buckets: roughly how long ago the app was installed (for example "8–30 days"), roughly how many plans it has made, whether the free fortnight is running, ended or you subscribe, whether Cloud AI is switched on, whether Listen or Let's chat was used in the past week, and the app and iOS version. It carries no identifier of any kind, is not linked to you or your device, and never includes tasks, events, notes or anything you typed. You can turn it off in Settings → About → "Share anonymous usage". The pings are kept as server logs for 30 days and summarised into daily counts.

Beyond that and CloudKit sync, the only network requests the app makes are the optional Cloud AI planning requests described above, and only when you've turned that feature on.

Third-party services

Apple's CloudKit stores your synced data and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you enable Cloud AI planning, those requests are processed by Amazon Web Services (API Gateway, Lambda, and Bedrock), governed by the AWS Privacy Notice. Listen and Let's chat use ElevenLabs for the voice and the conversation, governed by the ElevenLabs Privacy Policy; we hold no account with them in your name, and the only thing sent that could identify you is what you choose to say.

Notifications

Daily Driver schedules local notifications for task reminders and planning nudges. They're generated entirely on your device — no push servers in the loop.

Children's privacy

Daily Driver is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Since we have no email list, this page is the only channel we have to share changes.
