Your data stays with you.
Daily Driver stores your data on your device and in your private iCloud by default. There's no account system and no analytics. The one exception is an optional, off-by-default Cloud AI planning feature — and when you turn it on, this page tells you exactly what leaves your phone.
What we collect
Nothing, by default. Daily Driver has no account system and no analytics, and your tasks, notes, and journal never reach a server of ours unless you explicitly turn on Cloud AI planning (described below).
Where your data lives
- On your device. Tasks, notes, projects, focus sessions and journal entries are stored locally first.
- In your private iCloud container. If you're signed into iCloud, the same data syncs to your iPhone and iPad through Apple's CloudKit. It sits inside your personal iCloud account — not ours.
Optional Cloud AI planning
Daily Driver can generate daily plans, weekly plans, and weekly reviews using Claude, an AI model running on Amazon Bedrock. This feature is off by default and only works if you switch on Cloud AI in Settings.
When you ask for a plan or review, the app sends the minimum needed to build it to our AWS endpoint (hosted in Australia, ap-southeast-2):
- Daily and weekly plans: your open task titles, calendar event titles, dates, and timezone.
- Weekly reviews: your week's completion stats, focus minutes, streak, top tags, and — if you journaled — mood words and accomplishment text.
The response comes straight back to your device. We don't store your requests, don't attach them to any account or identifier, and Amazon Bedrock doesn't train models on them. Notes, project contents, and voice recordings are never sent. Turn the toggle off and the app makes no AI network requests at all.
Subscriptions & payments
Cloud AI planning is part of the optional Daily Driver AI subscription, billed through Apple. All payment processing is handled by the App Store under Apple's Privacy Policy — we never see your payment details, and the app only learns whether the subscription is active. There's still no account: your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, not to anything we hold.
Calendar access
If you grant calendar permission, Daily Driver reads your events on-device so it can show them alongside today's tasks. Calendar data stays on your phone unless you use Cloud AI planning, in which case event titles are included in the request as described above.
Microphone & speech recognition
Voice notes are optional. When you record one, audio is transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. The recording and its transcription are stored locally and in your private iCloud container. Neither is uploaded to us — we don't have anywhere to upload them to.
Analytics & tracking
None. No Firebase, no Google Analytics, no third-party SDKs. Beyond CloudKit sync, the only network requests the app makes are the optional Cloud AI planning requests described above — and only when you've turned that feature on.
Third-party services
Apple's CloudKit stores your synced data and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you enable Cloud AI planning, those requests are processed by Amazon Web Services (API Gateway, Lambda, and Bedrock), governed by the AWS Privacy Notice.
Notifications
Daily Driver schedules local notifications for task reminders and planning nudges. They're generated entirely on your device — no push servers in the loop.
Children's privacy
Daily Driver is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Since we have no email list, this page is the only channel we have to share changes.
